Modern Hairdressing, one of the countries leading male grooming salons, was founded in 1970 by one of it's current partners Michael Bateson. The salon quickly established itself as the leading mens' salon in the north, and in 1979 moved to it's larger present site in the historic Thornton's Arcade situated in the heart of Leeds city centre.

Gillian Bullough joined the salon in 1992 and quickly worked her way to her present position of senior partner. Gillian was responsible for carrying the salon forward to it's present day position as one of the most luxurious mens' salons in the country, this enviable status has been further enhanced by the major re-fit carried out in the summer of 2006.The present day sleek interior was designed by Gillian Bullough who then engaged the company TAKARA BELMONT to bring her dreams to reality. You will find furnishings and furniture by other iconic names such as Philippe Starke, Mies van der Rohe etc.
