Bad Apple Hair

After the fast-pace of September, I have been enjoying spending some time in the salon. Of course, there’s always exciting things happening on the sidelines and this month has been no exception.

One of the highlights of this month has been working with Rankin on a shoot for Autographer; the world’s first wearable camera. The device is worn around your neck on a leather lanyard and can take photographs every second. It’s a very cool little gadget, allowing you to automatically upload all the photographs to a server so you can log on and download the ones you want later. It’s early days, but I can see it being the hot new gadget that everyone wants. As cool as it is, however, the most exciting thing about being asked to work on the shoot was joining the Rankin team for a day…

It’s the second time I’ve worked with the photographer and was no disappointment. I think the guy is a master, such an incredible talent. He doesn’t pull any punches and says exactly how it is, which I find very refreshing. He has an amazing team too, who are always a pleasure to work with. The studio is so alive and creative that it seems to have its own pulse – I always feel so happy and energised when I’m there, working alongside like-minded people that share the same passion for what they do. It’s not a shoot I will be forgetting any time soon!

Another highlight this month has of course been working alongside my business partner Daniel Torres on our Pop-Up Salon, which is based in the Custard Factory. This is Birmingham’s new arts and media quarter, which has a very cool, youthful vibe - I think there’s a lot of scope for the area and believe that our customers will keep popping in, as long as we can keep popping out amazing hair!

Pop-Up Salon is a completely new venture and business to Bad Apple Hair, but it shares the same ethos and high standards. It’s important to both Dan and I that this continues.

The salon is an opportunity to let our creativity as a company rise to the surface, without any rules. It has a slightly more relaxed environment and focuses on the youth market. I want Pop-Up Salon to become renowned for its colour services and cuts. The interior is beautiful too. I love being there and always get a great feeling when I walk through the doors.

So that rounds up another month. I’m already excited about what the month ahead has to offer and look forward to catching up with everyone soon!
